Reblogged: T-shirt into bikini Tutorial

This tutorial came at the right time, for sure!
I was about to go and buy myself a bikini tomorrow. (Vacation starts on saturday and I'm kinda desperate.) Now I might make one instead! Thanks a million, Ecouterre!

This image's resolution sucks I know, please check out the website instead!

Reblogged: Jeans into Kid's jeans

Very cute and comfy kid's jeans made from mommy's old ones. A nice description in Swedish, but anyone can understand a lot from the pictures. Can be applied to about any pants, by the way. Tweed, Corduroy...go for it! From Ericas tygverkstad

New Old School

Husmorsskolan: Excellent site for Husmorstips, which roughly translates into the tings your grandma knew how to do. Like remaking and mening clothes, washing with baking soda or adding a bit of eggshell to the water when you feed your plants. It's in Swedish but if you know a similar english speaking site, I'd die to know. Please tell me!

Sofia Hedström - Modemanifestet

Sofia Hedström is a Swedish fashion reporter who blogs in one of Sweden's biggest newspapers.

She has recently written a book on her "shopping detox" - about her journey to less consumption of clothes. The recipe was basically remaking and caring of the clothes you already own instead of always hunting down the latest and disposing the items you used only two-three times.

The book seems to be full of episodes from her year of not buying clothes, plus inspiration from upcycling professionals around the world that she's met. So cool. I very much look forward to reading it and will try to find it this weekend.
Probably only in Swedish so far. Any recommendations on similar books, blogs or other inspiration in other languages?

Reblogged: Shirt into toddler dress

More shirts into dresses! How many can you make? Well, as many as there are shirts, I guess. It's so addictive!
This very pretty one was made already a few years ago by Nikkishell, who had an awesome blog named Wardrobe re-fahion on the topic of upcycling. Resting now, but full of great and inspirational refashioned stuff.  Check it out!

Shirt into Toddler Dress and Pants

Look what I made the other day! A dress with matching pants from my boyfriend's worn out shirt. It's protecting my very blond daughter's skin from the sun, still cool when it's warm, plus quite good looking if I may say so myself. A bit tunisian, or japanese? Yesterday was a hot day here in Stockholm and this outfit came very handy.
It took me about two hours but I was very quick and sloppy. Didn't even use pins, actually. (Recommended though.) Most functional details from the shirt are re-used, like the buttoning and the cuffs, which makes it really quick to make but still gives it some functional details. I kind of love the leg-cuffs. Difficulty 4 / 10 if you're as sloppy as me. Cost 0.

Tutorial coming up soon.

Reblogged: T-shirt into dress

Mari Santos has some great ideas on how to change an oversized t-shirt into other things. I love this dress. Check out her site, plenty of veeery good looking designs to get inspired by.

Reblogged: Old shoes into New shoes

With shoe color and some napkin decoupage these old shoes became new. Really nice!

I have been looking for shoe remakes. I think a lot of people have an idea of for example what to do with an old t-shirt, but hardly anyone is upcycling shoes. Love this. Very inspiring. Tutorial (in swedish) right here from 365 saker du kan slöjda.

Reblogged: Shirt into toddler dress

So. Nice! And such a great use of shirts. Almost all shirts would look great as a toddler dress. Not very complicated to make, either.

Next thing on my list to do. Right now. Today. I promise: pictures coming soon.

Pillowcase into wheat heater

Desperate one cold night in the winter of 2009, I filled a pillowcase with beans and lentils, tied an knot and then heated for a minute in the microwave. Then I put it under my blanket to heat up the bed before bedtime. Perfect.
