Shirt into Toddler Dress and Pants

Look what I made the other day! A dress with matching pants from my boyfriend's worn out shirt. It's protecting my very blond daughter's skin from the sun, still cool when it's warm, plus quite good looking if I may say so myself. A bit tunisian, or japanese? Yesterday was a hot day here in Stockholm and this outfit came very handy. 

It took me about two hours but I was very quick and sloppy. Didn't even use pins, actually. (Recommended though.) Most functional details from the shirt are re-used, like the buttoning and the cuffs, which makes it really quick to make but still gives it some functional details. I kind of love the leg-cuffs. Difficulty 4 / 10 if you're as sloppy as me. Cost 0.

Pillowcases into baby shirts

This model is so simple to make. And fun. Just take something that fits your baby, put it on a pillowcase (at the edge - shoulders should be where the pillowcase is folded)  and draw a big T around it. Kind of. Make sure you make it big enough though, especially it the fabric is woven and not stitched. Sew the sides, make a hole for the head, trim the edges, button, done. OK, it's a little more complicated than that but not a lot. Cost close to 0, difficulty 5/10.

Halterneck top into Baby shorts

 Top: H&M, 2007. Never liked it. I cut the top part away and made a tunnel for the elastic. Made the legs by making a U-shaped seam and cutting away the material in between. The hem at the waist is now the cuffs. 

Difficulty: 3/10. Result: 8/10. Cost 0.

Cashmere sweater into cozy winter suit

Cashmere Sweater from e-Bay, 8 Euro. Folklore decoration ribbon, 6 Euro.

Difficulty 5/10 (It got complicated when I did the buttons because I didn't plan ahead. Should have been a 3/10, it's very easy to make. I re-used the hole for the head and all the cuffs - the baby was exactly as long as the sweater from shoulder to ancle. ) No pattern, just improvisation.

Two t-shirts into baby dress

Old T-shirts were gifts from friends, made them into a dress. Pattern from Ottobre magazine.

Difficulty 4/10.

Sweater into booties

Shrunken sweater from H&M, hand sewn into baby booties. Buttons from a flea market. Pattern found online (google for "baby booties pattern".)

Time: 1 hour.

Difficulty: 3/10

Pillowcase into shirt

 

Pillowcase from a thrift store. Pattern self made, after seeing similar shirts all over the blogs.
